CINDER 5 ****PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

Spring break is upon us which means only a few more practices at school before we go to Farthing Auditorium, ASU to see how we do on the REAL STAGE.  We are all really excited to see how the scenery, stairs, and costumes all look and work on that BIG stage.  We will have a practice on Friday, April 9 since we are missing our Monday-Tuesday practices this week..Notes have gone home about that practice and the practices from now until show time.  Please look for them and post them so you will know what is hapening !!  T-shirts should be here this week , posters are out in the community,  and brochures have been shared with many people.  We are expecting a great attendance so please make sure our players are at every practice, prepared to act, sing , dance and have a great time showcasing their talents.  It is very \difficult to practice when actors  are missing.  We will be fine-tuning lines, dances, and acting  these last few practices at school.  Look for the letters about  choosing bag or school lunches for our time at ASU,McDonald’s. happy meals for the night show on Tuesday, Apil 20 and pick up times the week of the 19th. :Lots to do yet, with so little time left. See you at practices, Players, and parents spread the words CINDER 5 to your family and friends.  If you need brochures, please come see me.

Marching to the beat of Michael Jackson

Wow! Time is Marching on. BUT we ARE getting closer to making it all come together for hundreds of viewers in the audience. Thanks to the suppport from our Central Services, Superintendent, Keith Eades, and the Board of Education all schools have been invited to attend the showing of Cinder 5 on Wednesday, April 21, at 10:30 a.m. First showing will be held Tuesday, April 20 at 6:30 p.m. for everyone.  Our brochures are available and out to the public, our posters , by Kevin Lawrence ,are in print now and look awesome and finally T-shirts with our Cinder 5 logo and Extraordinary Players logo are being ordered.  However, the most important aspect is the growth of our players as actors and as peer helpers, leaders, and supporters of this impressive project.  Today’s practice was basically turned over to student leaders as Mr. Carver and I took a step back.  It was a very rewarding time for both of us.  There was not a minute gone by that we didn’t notice someone trying to help another be in the correct place, say the corrct line, or help with a dance move.  I LOVE THIS JOB AND I thank you for lending me and Mr.Carver your children to show society that there is anuntouched talent in everyone. If you have not returned your t-shirt forms, please do so soon so I can take care of that piece of paperwork.  I am still working on costumes, lprops, hair and make-up designs . Pictures for the Actors Board have been taken by Melissa Parker, our resident photographer and I am asking students to write a 3-5 sentence bio on themselves to put with their picture at Farthing Auditorium . Thank you for your help in this area.  Look for the posters, brochures, and t-shirts.  Keep your kids dancing, laughing and having fun. They deserve it.

Cinder 5 ***Moving Forward****

Thanks to all that put forth so much  effort to help with the making of the awesome scenery.  We had helpers come in on a snow day,Saturday, and Sunday just to help complete the project while the artist, Ms, Jessie, was still here.  It is ,by far, the best  scenery yet. And then last week Joe Banner delivered the amazing stairs that they built for our Ball and Wedding scenes.  Thank you , thank you! The kids are loving them and feel really special coming down them.  Costumes are coming along nicely also, as I adjust for sizes, add glittz and sparkle to them .  The rest of the show is up to YOU, PARENTS and PLAYERS, to learn your lines, become your character, and make this play come alive.  Parents, I need your help at home to make sure the players practice their lines with you, otherwise, they slow the entire practices down and their peers get very annoyed and disappointed in the progress being made.  We are having practices on Monday and Tuesday of every week until 4 p.m. and a schedule will be going home today with dates through the shows, April 20, 21.  We also have t-shirts for the players that will be available at cost with our logo and cast names on the back ,(more informations will follow or a parent meeting will be held to discuss other concerns, needs, answer questions for those unfamiliar with the show procedure).  Continue on Players like you were on Friday…..You rocked!!

CHANGE IN PAINTING SCHEDULE

SHE HAS TO DRAW IT FIRST.. HOPEFULLY IT WILL E A FULL DAY OF PAINTING FRIDAY AND SATURDAY WITH STUDENTS.  CALL ME 265-6157 OR JUSTIN  766-4142  IF NECESSARY.  THANKS AND HOPE TO SEE YOU AT NES SOON.  THIS BLIZZARD IS FOR REAL HERE IN LINVILLE.

Cinder 5 practice and painting

Practice on a Monday! How unusual!  Hopefully today’s practice will be a very worthwhile and technique gaining practice to hold us over through these snowdays.  Encourage your Player to practice those lines at home so that time during practice can be spent on delivery of lines, characterization, dance and song.  Painting of the scenery will begin February 11 at 10:30 in the art room, come snow or shine.  Please come help and enjoy the creativity of this great acticity.  Also, remember to send in those painting smocks so that the paint stays on the canvas not on the student’s clothing.  I am looking forward to this week and hope the weather cooperates with us. Looking forward to seeing you this week.

Winter wonderland conflicts with the Cinder 5

How many more of these days can we take before it interupts the making of a fantastic show?  Not too many more.  So, please be prepared for us to start having 2 practices a week. (TBA) We finally got through scenes 7-8 yesterday so that leaves 9-10  to accomplish so that we have run through the entire show!!. Therefore, next Monday, Feb. 8. will be practice for scenes 7-10, which includes everyone.  Costumes are being decided, fitted, and panels have been made thanks to our wonderful AC Maintenance Dept and Josh Schupe. Thank you for everything you did for us to be ready for our visiting artist, Ms. Jessie ,to begin her painting project with the players and selected others from NES.  Again all the help we can get will be helpful since there are 11 panels to be painted for the Cinder 5 to look professional/broadway-like.  Painting will begin around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11 and go through Saturday, February 13 if necessary.  Send in those old shirts that can be used as smocks as soon as possible. AGAIN, please make sure your player has read his lines and is starting to memorize them.  It will make practices much more fun and more time for dancing and goofing around.  It is probably time to start asking for parents to bring in snacks for the players since we go until 4:00.  Please let me know when and if this is possible for you. We have some great things planned for the Extraordinary Players this year so just wait to see what develops. Justin and I are so thrilled with the group of students we are working with this year daily. Thanks for all your support.
